If you are looking to make hanging calendars (don't forget you can make other types inc: C.D. desktop calendars - see calendar accessories) then you can't go wrong with one of the packages below which include:-
A Wire Binder and Thumbcut Punch plus a selection of wires
and Calendar Hangers to get you started.
The basic requirements to make hanging calendars are:-
WIRE
BINDER. - A basic wire binder has adjustable margins and a set number of pins. This allows you to punch the length of the paper, whatever its
size (up to the capacity of the machine). You may end up with half a hole at one end, even with the adjustable
margin. To overcome this you would need to cut down the paper or look at
one of the more advanced packages with cancellation pins
THE THUMBCUT - This allows the pages to turn over and the hanger to rotate freely. This thumbcut needs to be central to the page otherwise the calendar will not hang straight.
With a basic wire binder you could find you get half a hole or two half holes. To overcome this the best solution is to go for a machine with cancellation pins - standard in all our Proffessional and Commercial Calendar Making Kits. Cancellation pins allow you to choose whether the binder punches the holes. Use the cancellation pins where you get half holes and you willl get a great professional result
THUMBCUT
PUNCH.- For a quicker and professional finish you need the desktop
punch which we include with all the packages except the "Hobby Package"
The desktop thumbcut is designed to slice through a stack of pages up to abut 6-10mm and comes with a 6mm corner
cutter. Additional dies are also available, for hole punching, chamfers and
corners.
The punch included with the hobby punch will cut through 4-6 sheets of paper, which is fine for the occasional calendar.
WIRES & HANGERS - Most calendars use No4 wires and are usually white. If you are using very thick paper or heavy covers you may require bigger wires. The hangers we supply are 56mm which are fine for most A5 & A4 calendars. |

The manual Renz SRW is a marvellously good and
reliable machine. Our Renz DTP340 package incorporates a thumbcut die
with the hole punch, speeding up the process considerably. For our
middle range machine again we have a Renz machine, the SRW Comfort,
which incorporates Electric Punching. |
